The Start of Labor Day Weekend

What a delightful Friday.
I got to spend the morning with Levi, Gideon and Kayla.
I promised Kayla months ago that when she painted her room and moved back in I would help with whatever she needed.
I also told Gina I would help her with anything she chose as a gift for her birthday (which, as you recall, was Wednesday). She wanted help with the boys so she could get some stuff done around the house.

I got there around 10:00 a.m. and stayed til about 2:00 p.m. I mostly watched Levi and Gideon but also helped Kayla get settled in her old bedroom. They painted one wall a deep purple. The other walls are a khaki color. They look really good together. Of course, I have no pictures to show you - sorry!

While I was gone, Dan had finished laying the tile in the master bathroom.

As I was leaving.....getting all the cuts made.

The condition of the bathroom when I got home.

Isn't that awesome? Won't be long and I'll be able to hang a shower curtain and put a rug down!

I worked on the dining room walls. I had painted to a random height. We decided how high we want the wainscoating to be (6 feet) and I primed over the green that was below that line. It is now ready for the wood to be purchased and nailed to the wall.

Then I painted the trim we had gotten a couple weeks ago. It is the baseboard material for the bathroom and bedrooms.

Before

I just ran down and took two pictures of the baseboards done. Hope you can see some sort of detail. It was pretty dark, so not sure how they'll turn out!

Two things I want to add here.
During July, a couple people said I had not posted a picture showing the front of the house once the windows were replaced. I was sure I had, but, I'll take their word for it and show you....Marie and Brenda ;-)

Why this was important, I'm not sure. But it has been in the back of my mind since they said it....so here it is, and you DON'T want to know how long it took me to find those pictures!

Secondly, I didn't show you a picture of the dresser Marie found for us. So, here are some pictures I just ran down and took for you. I took from several angles...the green tape is painters tape that we put on to hold the doors shut during transport. We still have to move it upstairs, so haven't taken the tape off yet. I'm hoping it will get carried up tomorrow when we have several guys stopping over! It is very heavy and bulky. It has to be lifted over the banister to get it up here. Should prove to be a challenge.

Gotta share some good news with you. God's been up to it again! We have been watching the price of sinks since we got the dresser. We decided to go with a vessel sink (sits on top of the dresser) so we wouldn't lose much of the drawer space. They can be kinda pricey so we've been patient and watching. Dan called me the other day and said a hundred dollar sink had been put on clearance for fifty bucks. We were thinking it was a good deal so went yesterday to get it. That very same sink had been marked down that morning to $24.00! We got a hundred dollar sink for twenty four dollars...very exciting!

We are, and have been since day one almost, watching for a good price on a stove/oven. We don't have one, so will soon have to purchase one. Seen any GREAT deals lately? If so, let us know!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
