I missed all ya'll the last couple of days.
I'm happy to be able to do this again!
Power was off two days. We tried to blog last night, remember, power was still off....my phone was out of charge, Dan's phone could get us to the blog, but we couldn't sign in to make any posts.
Yesterday I got home from work and Dan and Hank had been working on duct work. Here are a few pics of it:
They also hung the mirror in our bathroom, and installed the light above the mirror. Then put up the shelving in the guest room....did some other misc. stuff I can't remember right now.
The power came back on in the middle of the night. I woke up to hear Dan at my head plugging in my cell phone. The light had come on on his side of the bed and woke him up. So then he was downstairs checking wiring, breakers....crazy stuff for 1:45 a.m.!
We were happy to have the power back though. It allowed us to use the saw and sanders this morning. We are putting up wainscoting in the dining room. We decided to make the boards ourselves. So we bought a sheet of wood, cut it and sanded it down. We couldn't install them right away though. First, the room had to be cleared of miscellaneous tools, boards, carpet pieces, painting supplies...stuff! Then there was a section that had to be "patched". The drywall was missing. So we broke out the drywall bin and put up the pieces of drywall and mudded them. They were left to dry.
Boards cut and sanded, ready to go up
While that dried, Dan broke out the drill, screws, tape measure, saw and began measuring and putting up studs for the wall between the family room and living room.
Base for wall
Studs start going up
I had to run over to Mindi's to help with the kids for awhile tonight. While I was gone, the rest went up.
Here is a shot from the kitchen, through the dining room - trying to help give a little perspective.
So, the funny part of the day....being at Mindi's watching the kids!
Rayna is so funny. She is walking now, but she likes to push her doll in the stroller. She gets going just a little fast and you think she's gonna land on her nose, but she held it together pretty good.
Jazmyn eating her supper, and reading at the same time!
Then we went out to watch Jazmyn on the trampoline. I sat on the porch steps and held Rayna and Nate sat next to me. Rayna kept wanting to go out to the trampoline. When we got there, Nate wanted nothing to do with it, until Jaz got off and I put him up on it. Rayna, however, was a different story. She loved it. I put her on it and she rolled around, sat and tried to bounce, walked around....had a lot of fun on it. She screamed when I finally took her off and headed into the house.
So, back to the dining room walls a minute.
We plan to do the wainscoting....here are a couple pictures of the boards standing against the wall. What do you think? Should we have two or just one in the middle on that wall?
I'm wondering if one looks too sparse, or if two looks too crowded, or if one or the other looks just right?
Any opinions?
Funny thing - today while we were cutting the boards we took them outside and had the saw set up out there. I wear gloves almost all the time while I'm working. Today was no different. At one point, we came in the house and I threw a glove on the counter. Later when I looked at it, here is how it had landed, I did not pose this!
So, PEACE out!
Gotta get up and go help the Miller household move their belongings to another place of abode. Help paint Jazmyn's room....come home and work here, probably.
So, good talking to you again!
Ok I like the three on the wall not the 4. The 3 looks cleaner and more polished. I think the 4 looks too busy.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see pics of the mirror and lights up in the bathroom. Pic's tomorrow maybe?
Good job Hilma! Oh and of course Dan the Man!!!
Peace out
M
I like 3 better. In scrapbooking don't they tell you to do things in 3's? I can't wait to see it finished. It's really starting to come together. Have a swell day!
