Little People and Their Chauffeur

What a wonderful Wednesday this has been.
We actually started out the day with a trip - guess where?!
I really do think my husband is now addicted to Menards. He suggests going at random, weird times throughout the day.
This morning's trip was necessary. We made a list of stuff before going. We usually get there planning on buying a thing or two and get sidetracked too easily seeing other things.
So, we got our stuff and just before heading to the register, we got a text asking if we wanted a visit from two little people and their chauffeur. Well, I don't turn down those kinds of offers....here's who sent it:

After they left

We got busy for awhile.
Dan cut panels for cabinet 'ends'.
I painted them.

Without 'ends'

Ends going on

Then, we realized, the posts have to go up on the outer part of the island before Dan can grout. So, we made another list and headed to Sydney, MI to get trim. It is straight north of Ionia. The man doesn't advertise, doesn't even have a sign out on his property to let anyone know he is there. It is just word of mouth that informs people he even exists. Today, I took a few pictures to let you see what it is like back there and what he has.

This trailer is full of spindles, banister parts, rails...

We were looking for trim for windows. We found some but they were a bit beat up and we had to sort through a pile of them to find good ones. He finally said, "Tell you what, you need 17 pcs., that would be $34.00. I'll give you the whole pile for $30.00 if you take all of them. Then you can sort through and get what you need and make the rest firewood. I need the space."
So, we got a bunch....more than we need. But so many were knicked and beat up we'll have so sort out and cut off....

In that first trailer we found two square pillars we could use for the island!! Yeah!
I'll show you pictures of that tomorrow.

Gotta run, phone is ringing....talk tomorrow!
