We took care of some bills, put another coat of drywall compound on the dining room wall, ate and took pills to get over a killer headache, and a few other putsy things around here, then went over around 10:30a.m.
We were the only ones who showed up to help for the first 1/2 of the day.
On our way over, we stopped at Seth's parents and picked up a truck and trailer. His parents are out of town right now (wasn't that convenient?!) so we took the equipment they lent the kids over and began filling it. We used our van, their van and Seth's parents truck and trailer. We decided to take as much of the big stuff as we could then filled in with smaller stuff. We got their stove, table and chairs, beds, dressers, changing tables, living room furniture, grill, and more stuff than I have time or interest to mention ;-)
Daniel and Laina showed up this afternoon and helped with a couple loads too.
Around 6:30 or 7:00 they ordered pizza for everyone. While we ate, we decided to go get one more load...this time to get Min and Seth's bed, Rayna's bed (it hadn't been taken down)...and a few food items they'll want in the morning. We loaded the truck up, sent Mindi and Jazmyn on their way, then Daniel and Laina followed us home to see the progress on the house. They haven't been over here for several weeks so were surprised to see what had been done.
Obviously we didn't get anything done here today. But I want to show you something.
Last week Marie expressed her concern over our choice of flooring for the kitchen. I told her I'd lay some out, take pictures, then post a few for her (and all the rest of you) to see.
Tell me what you think. Will this color look ok, in your humble opinions, in a green kitchen with black countertops and white cabinetry?
I layed them out in a couple locations in the kitchen to get different perspectives. (see how much trouble I'm willing to go to to satisfy a friend?) The one is a close up of one single tile to give you an idea of the color.
Marie wants to see black and white with the colors of the kitchen. However, the color of the old dining room floor was black and white and I'm not ready to replay that!
Well, not much other news.
I work tomorrow - I picked up another girls hours.
Dan is going to Jazmyn's soccer game then he has a bid to do for a church in Whitneville. Work....we almost forgot what that was! His phone is starting to ring again - YEAH!
Then tomorrow night, we get to meet with the other leaders at church and hear a personal "word" from our old pastor Wayne Benson. He speaks at church on Sunday also. We're looking forward to hearing him. We sat under his teaching for almost 20 years....an amazing teacher/preacher.
So, have a great weekend.
Thanks to you who responded to my question yesterday!
Hilma,
ReplyDeleteTaking a risk at saying what I think, I like the flooring because there is more variety. I see black and white in the tile so that will be pulled out by the counter and cabinets; and the brown works well with the green. The brown and green soften it. Well, that is what I think.
Sandy
Ok It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. By not as bad I really mean it looks pretty good. I will wait for a complete verdict until I see it in person but I am leaning towards ok but don't quote me on that just yet.... :)
