The Fun Never Stops!

This is so much fun, there ought to be a law!
Seeing these rooms take shape is so cool. The process getting there - well, that's another story.

Before we got very far this morning - I had started putting the final coat of paint on the wainscoting

and Dan was organizing himself to put the studs up in the family room

- we had some cute little visitors.

Mindi and the two little ones stopped over to borrow a drill. She is putting up closet organizers and needed some more tools.

We had to keep close tabs on them so they didn't get into the paint!

It wasn't long after they left that Hank came over. By this time, Dan was full swing into the family room ceiling.

I got dizzy after awhile - how 'bout you?

I'm messing with you....I was just having fun taking pictures at different angles.

***********************************************************************************
That's a break in the day ;-)

Mid-afternoon, we changed gears and started cutting and sanding trim.

Then after dinner - Hank stayed tonight and had pizza with us - we set it up in the dining room to lay out all the trim so I could prime and paint it.

Dan started putting up the shelf in the corner of the kitchen - but had to stop. I had not painted it completely!
It has the paint on it now though! All ready to install!

Friday morning we meet Mindi and Seth early to help finish their move. They still have a couple big items at the old house and they have to have everything out this weekend.
I think I'm staying with the little ones while they go move stuff. Then, we may go into Grand Rapids in the afternoon.

Tonight we talked to a man, who is a carpet installer, who had an ad on Craigslist. He does some commercial and some residential work....evidently gets carpet from those sources and sells it via Craigslist. We are calling him after the "move" and trying to meet up to look at what he has. His prices are incredibly low, so we're hoping he has some nice stuff that will work for us.

When we get home, we will probably install all the trim we just cut, sanded, primed and painted today! That is going to look nice once installed.

I'll tell you, the fun just never stops around here!

Plumbing to Pendants

When I got home, Dan told me Hank had taken some pictures with our camera. I thought, "Oh, cool. I'll have something to post on the blog tonight!"
I then took a couple pictures of the bathroom, Dan putting up pendant lighting over the island and our back door. (I'll put those up in a minute)

I downloaded them and there was only one that Hank took. So, you'll have to take my word for what they did today.

Actually, it is stuff that isn't that fun to look at anyway! You know, electrical, plumbing, duct work. I've been informed though, that all rough in for all three is now COMPLETE...DONE....WRAPPED UP.....FINISHED.....

The ceiling in our downstairs bathroom/laundry is studded in.
That means drywall can now go up, YEAH!!!!

Not only was Hank here to help today, but Daniel (our favorite son, ok, he's our only son too) came to help also. That's the one picture Hank took with my camera today - THANK YOU HANK!

After work, I met Marie and we sat and talked (at a restaurant) for a couple hours. She's been working full time (gasp, choke, gasp, sigh) and we haven't had time to do that in months. Of course, my being obsessed with a house has nothing to do with it at all.

When I got home, we ran to Menard's to get more paint for the wainscoting I'll be finishing tomorrow.

When I got home today, I was excited to see a blind hanging at the back door. Up to this point, you could look straight through the house from front to back door OR from back to front too! LOL

When you aren't here during the day, it's difficult to describe what went on. So I'm not going to add any more. I'm hoping there will be lots to tell you about tomorrow. I plan to finish painting in the dining room, the shelf Dan made today for the kitchen corner....and I'm not sure what else. Don't know Dan's plan for tomorrow either.

A big surprise for all of us, I guess!

Oh, here are the pics of Dan hanging the pendant lighting

It all looks the same to me....maybe I should have taken one when it was done!?
We'll save that for tomorrow.

Hope you had a good one!

And I Never Used the Word Wainscoting!

Owwww, Ooooh, Ouch, all words we've been using with frequency tonight!
A hot tub, or a hot bath would feel good about now.
Not sure what did it, but Dan and I both are hobbling around like, well, I hate to say it, but old people. No offense anyone!
We cut more wood, sanded more wood, nailed more wood, caulked more wood, filled holes in wood, then primed and painted it all today.

While I primed in the dining room, Dan and Hank worked on electrical wiring. There were a couple forgotten areas Dan discovered the other day. They remedied that.

Here's some proof
Hank pulling staples out of the floor

Measuring for trim

Oops! Didn't measure twice, so we had to pull it off the wall, take out the nails and reposition it.

All pieces up on that wall

You can tell Hank was here today - Camera Thief!

See, he really does do windows!

All up and ready to prime

Now they are primed

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere comes the paint...................

Coat #1

Hank left about 5:00. We grabbed a quick bite and Dan left about 5:30 to help Mindi and Seth move a few big items that got left last weekend.

While he was gone, I finished coat #1 and then painted the door to the bathroom/laundry.

I know they all need at least one more coat, possibly two, but I am almost out of paint. I know I didn't have enough to start the second coat. It's a good thing. I'm so sore I couldn't make it through another coat without doing some severe damage ;-)

Well, off to a hot shower I go, pretty sure it will be a proloooooonged one!
Work tomorrow bright and early!

Wainscoting and Volleyball

I just have to tell you, because I've been thinking about it all day off and on: We are so blessed. Life is amazingly good. I've been thinking all day about the things that bless my life....too many to even start to mention here. That's not what this blog is for anyway! LOL
Then on my way home tonight, I heard Chris Tomlin's song, "JESUS" play on the radio. Man, that song will bring you to tears! Most of his songs do. I like his style, his heart....I heard him in person one time here in Grand Rapids...very sincere man.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. Dan and I started the day out by going over some of the things we want to do with our new small group that will start this Saturday. It's called Extreme Marriage Makeover. Then we started the dining room's wainscoting.
YEAH! I've been waiting to do this room since we first saw the place. It's the one room I had a vision for that never changed. It was fun starting it and working on it - watching it take shape.

He DID let me use the power nailer! I put most of the nails in, here and there he put a few in.
Here are a few pictures of what we accomplished.

In the middle of it, we had to stop and install the bathroom/laundry room door.

Then we continued with the wainscoting

About 2:30 we changed course - I got ready to go into Grand Rapids. Kayla had a volleyball game at 4:15 and I wanted to see her play. Then I met a girl that had an ad on Craigslist and bought a set of flannel sheets from her. Her husband refused to sleep on them - made for a good deal for me!

While I was on that side of town I thought I would stop by the Rivertown mall. What a waste of time! It will be a long time before I do that again!

Dan, on the other hand, stayed home saying he wanted to get more done. He had no need to go to a mall! He worked on more duct installation, insulated some pipes, and other "stuff".

Kayla at her game....I just have to share with you, that kid is amazing at serving. She made the majority of the points for her team. They won all three games they played.

Levi and Gideon at the game

As we were parting ways, I peeked into the van with my camera and tried to get the boys. Levi was a bit grumpy at that point (he missed his nap today), so I only got one eye!

So.............for tomorrow.......Dan goes to his usual Tuesday morning men's meeting.
He will pick up more wood to finish the project, since we ran out of it today - in case you were wondering why it wasn't finished.

I plan to break out the paint and paint that wainscoting!

I really jumped around tonight....sorry! Hope you could track with me!
