Prime Time

Have you ever spent a day working really hard and at the end of the day feel completely exhausted but also feel really good about what you had accomplished?
That's how we feel today. We are tired, but we feel really good about what we got done. It doesn't look much different at the house, but we got some things accomplished - one being a plan on the kitchen. While I've been doing cabinets, Dan's time has been split between sanding upstairs and doing some things downstairs. Today he decided to focus completely on the kitchen tomorrow and get the wiring completed in there. Then it will be ready for drywall. Once the drywall is up we can put the cabinets in place. It seems like we've been shuffling things from one room to another in order to get a project completed. That's how it's been with the kitchen and the cabinets. We've moved them at least twice so I'm happy to have a plan that will get them in place once and for all.

Another thing we've been working around is the odd pieces of lumber we want to save but aren't using right now. They've been standing against the wall in the kitchen. We also have odd pieces of wood inside and out that are for the garbage, we just don't have anything big enough in which to dispose of them. Dan had a great idea today for them though. He has his trailer sitting in the back yard - empty. So, we put the odd pieces of garbage on it and will haul it to the dump when we fill it.

Dan took several pieces of old plywood and stood them up at the sides of the trailer to hold things in.

Some of the things sitting outside we can now dispose of!

Dan carrying out some of the stuff from the house.

Drilling more holes in the kitchen on the back wall (where the back door is)

Playing with more electrical stuff

Once we got the 5-6 OSB boards stacked in the stairway going down, we found a spot on the back kitchen wall that used to have a window. We discussed putting one back in, but ultimately decided against it.

In between all that, I finished the last coats of paint on the cabinets, then started on the doors and drawers. When I felt them, I didn't like how rough they felt, so I took them all out of the "clean room" and sanded them down again. Then we stacked the painted ones against the plastic (there is no wall behind it, so I can't say stacked them against the wall!).

Found a place for all the doors and primed the backs of them.

The wonderful air conditioner that keeps the rooms at a decent temperature so the paint can dry nicely.

I also set up the drawers and primed the fronts of them, but I didn't take a picture of that part of the process....it was too late in the day!

Before I primed, but after I sanded, I wiped the doors and drawers off. They had been stained previously and the dust from sanding was red! Then when I wiped them down the rag kept getting full of red dust.

Well, bedtime again. Seems like the evening is non-existent. By the time we get back to Gina's, eat something and take a shower, it is 9:00 or later.

I'm hoping to get the doors and drawers primed and painted tomorrow. Dan hopes to get to the point of putting drywall up in the kitchen. I'm excited to see that room come together!
