We started out at Menards, as it seems most of our days do!
Then we painted ceilings in the kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom.
Then we washed out the rollers and went to town on the kitchen....it now has COLOR!
Before....kitchen with all white walls
Another before...dining room
Starting to put color on the wall
About this time, I almost freaked out. It did not look like the color I wanted. It looked pea green - NOT the look I was going for! But, we put a big smear on the wall and studied it for a few minutes.
We decided to go ahead and use it with the hopes that it would turn darker as it dried. After several swoops with the roller, we warmed up to it, and it did turn darker.
The pictures don't give it justice....it doesn't look quite like this in real life, but it gives you an idea.
Then we ran out of that color. We were going to paint the kitchen and dining room all the same...we don't need much for the dining room because we are going to put wainscoating up about 6' high. That doesn't leave much to paint! But, we had to get another gallon to do the rest. Dan had cut in at ceiling height and corners...now we'll have to finish the dining room tomorrow.
When we finished that, we ran to Menard's and got the paint and some screws and clamps to put up cabinetry. We then began pulling cabinets out of the living room and putting them up in the kitchen. Here are some pics of the process.
Cabinet #1
Cabinet #2
Cabinet #3
Cabinet #4
Cabinet #5 and 6
Cabinet #7
Ok, they don't have the doors on them yet, so it looks like big boxes, doesn't it?
Once we got them up, (and that is quite a process, let me tell you) we pulled the lower units out and put them in place where they will most likely be affixed to the wall.
Doesn't it look funny without doors and drawers?!
Just before we left, we pulled in the dishwasher and put it with the cabinet that will be in the island. That's what you are seeing in the middle of the room. The first one was taken from the backdoor, the second one was taken from the French door.
By the way, where you see white walls, we didn't make a mistake. It will be covered by backsplash or microwave, or something!
And, while we were at Menard's we found a microwave on clearance...couldn't pass up the price!
Til tomorrow....
WOW!!! That is all I can say WOW!! It looks just like a kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteOk I just looked at the pictures again and I wondered how come the sides of the cabinets are painted??
