Back to the Project and the Blog!

Oh, man, here it is Tuesday night before I get to blogging again.
I missed writing every night. If I would have had internet access, and the time to do it, I could have told you lots of stories from the weekend. We had almost 40 family members come from both Connecticut and Illinois.

As you know, we rented a house in Rockford. We all stayed there except Gina and her family, Mindi and her family and my sister Martha and her family - they stayed at Gina's house.

We had a great time with the Olympic theme. We had everyone split into teams. Each team had to come up with an anthem, a motto, a mascot and a flag. We had used American Indian team names like, Laughing Wolves, Squatting Hawks, Quacking Donkeys, Barking Birds and Singing Horses. The creativity was awesome. The anthems all seemed to have some competitive viciousness to them....all quite funny. We played volleyball as much as we could squeeze it in. Then the younger ones and a few brave older ones played basketball. We also took a quick trip into Rockford and walked across the dam and enjoyed those sites - ending with ice cream, of course!

Sunday morning several families got up and left early. The rest of us had breakfast together, had our own worship and sharing time, had lunch, then drove over to Ionia to show them the "project" of ours. They thought it looked smaller than they had imagined it from the blog!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. I may add some more tomorrow.

Then to today and what we accomplished at the house.....Dan did his usual Tuesday morning men's prayer breakfast. When that was done, he went to Hastings and did a small side job - layed the foundation. Tomorrow morning he lays the block.

I arrived at the house around 9 a.m. and started in on the cabinets right away. When Dan arrived, he went upstairs and did another coat of mud on the bedroom walls.

At our first break we decided the best way to do the cabinets and doors would be to partition the family and living rooms off and put the window air conditioner in it so the humidity won't affect them as they dry. It will also help with the dust.
Here is the plastic we hung.

Before we left (at 8 p.m.) I put one coat of primer on the cabinets. My plan is to do all the coats to them, then stack them out of the way and lay the doors out and prime and paint them.

When we got back to Dave and Gina's, Kayla had a friend at the dining room table playing a card game. They are having a sleep over and will be spending the day on the boat tomorrow!

Levi couldn't sleep so he joined the fun/giggling! He giggled more than the girls!

We're off to have more fun tomorrow ourselves....me doing the cabinets, Dan doing block then sanding walls!
