Last of the Plaster!

Good news on two fronts - I didn't forget the camera tonight and the plaster is done!

Our goal today was to knock out the plaster and be done with it once and for all.
That goal was reached! Yeah!

We had a visitor this morning. I didn't get photo releases, so this photo may disappear in the next few days. (evidently some people don't like seeing themselves on the web without prior consent, what's with that?)

Mindi stopped by while she was in town this morning.

Then Sandy Wilcox, our hard working friend stopped by again today - there's a true friend for ya. She scraped plaster out of lathe all day again! I think she deserves a medal!

Here she is yesterday....masks are tricky things, you know!

Scraping in the master bathroom

Yesterday we had to set up the scaffolding in the stairway to get to the high stuff. Once set up, Dan and I both had to do the belly crawl to get under it and into the hallway upstairs. We're sparing you by not posting photos of that! Actually, I promised Dan not to take a picture and potentially embarrass him!

Here he is setting it up

We tried to warn her, but Sandy stayed at the bottom of the stairs while we worked at the top. You KNOW what her hair looked like at the end of the day!

Today she was in every room we had with plaster in it. Here she is behind the tub (possibly staying away from our flying plaster?!)
Can you find the scripture in the room?

Here she is finishing the wall she did ALL BY HERSELF!

Sandy signed the wall she did single-handedly

Empty laundry/bath

Laundry/Bath full of insulation Dan brought down from rooms upstairs. Remember a couple days ago we emptied the attic of insulation? It's now in the downstairs bathroom...to be put in walls downstairs.

Dan did a lot of the plaster that was up high on the wall. He used a metal bar his dad made specifically for this job - thanks Dad!

Think she's hiding from the camera??

Sittin' on the job

I swept up so much plaster today, we filled more than 8-9 buckets.
Sandy grabbed the camera a couple times. Here's one of them. Check out the film on that hat! Sorry you have to do a headstand to see it!

While I was sweeping, and Sandy had the camera, I asked her to take a shot of the pile of plaster. Can you see it? Make sense?
It was behind the tub and right next to the wall.

While scraping all this plaster, a LOT of dust is created. When I opened the shop vac to empty it (which you have to do fairly frequently) I could not believe what I found. This is the worst I've seen it. Just had to share it with you!

How I get rid of it is to take it to the far corner of the yard and shake it off. At first, I tried to do it in the trash dumpster, but that makes a boiling, dusty mess. Made me cough for hours. So, I've taken it to the back corner of the yard and beat the dust off. I really am going to have to apologize to our neighbors! They haven't come over and introduced themselves - wonder why! When they see us coming, wonder what they'll do?

Anyway, here Sandy grabbed the camera again - this time she gave us time to pose. We were too tired to care about posing. What you see is what you get!

After Sandy left, I swept up more dust and plaster. Dan went down to the living room and stuffed 'Fire Stop Insulation' in the floor joists.
First he peeled down the existing insulation and stuffed it up at ceiling height. The old stuff will come down and be replaced.

How we ended the day - I got three bites ;-)

Gotta share these with you too.
Last night while I was typing the blog, I heard laughing and squealing in the other room. Pretty soon, Kayla appeared with Levi. She had wrapped him like a mummy and he tried walking!

Little brother was the onlooker

Have yourself a wonderful July 4th holiday!
