Dan finished the extra job in Hastings today. Yeah! Now he can focus on the house again. He did go over this afternoon and do a few things. His dad also showed up - for the first time. He loaded him down with the old back door. It was aluminum and his dad recycles a lot of stuff. He also sent him away with the old wiring. I think he burns off the outer cover and recycles the wire itself. Not sure what else he sent with him, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised at what isn't there when I arrive tomorrow!
He said he worked in the bathroom and bedroom upstairs and got them ready for drywall.
Tomorrow we get to hang the first piece of drywall! I'm so excited....can't wait to get over there and see this new phase start! I think once we begin drywalling, the place will take on a whole new look and feel.
After getting home from work, I quick turned on the computer and checked my email. I had an email from the friend in whose house we are staying. She said they could be home as soon as Saturday THIS WEEK! Inside I screamed "YIKES". But then, as I started thinking about it, I thought maybe this is a good thing. We'll move back to Gina's before the whole family arrives next week and we can totally focus on the reunion and the drywalling.
It's not moving into the house like we wanted to do, but it could be worse.
I called Gina first thing and told her. She was so gracious. She said, "I told you when you left we were not moving Kayla back into her room. That room is available any time you need it. It is not a problem with us."
SOOOOOO, back to the Boening's we go!
Gotta tell you a funny story before I go. This morning I went down to feed, water and "clean up" after the cats. The lighter colored cat was in the first room as I opened the door. I fed them, gave them fresh water and picked up the you-know-what. I looked around to see where the other cat was. I saw a lump on the bed in one of the bedrooms. I stood there to see if it was moving. I saw barely any movement, but knew the cat was under the top sheet. I went to work, came back, checked email, etc. then went down to check on the cats. Food was fine, water was fine, litter box...then I looked around to see where the cats were. The SAME lump was still on the bed under the sheet. I went upstairs and got Dan to go down with me to check it again. (I thought it had died under the sheet and didn't want to be responsible for finding it by myself!) He carried a yard stick down and gingerly poked at it. It didn't move and I moaned thinking, "We have to take care of someone else's dead cat!"
He poked it the second time and it moaned and moved a little. I breathed a sigh of relief and went back to safety upstairs!
Tomorrow we'll also be able to post pictures again!
Wish I could go start drywalling now! But, I'd better get some sleep so I will be of some use tomorrow!
