Freddie the Frog

For as hot as it was today, we feel pretty good about what we accomplished.

We actually never opened the windows at the house today. When we got there we decided to leave them shut for awhile to keep the humidity out. Well, it never got better outside, so we ended up keeping it cooler with just the fans going.

We started out at Home Depot here in Grand Rapids to get the quote for drywall we asked for on Monday. We had to wait for it! The guy had never even started it. So, while he worked on it, we went to get a piece of wood to build Rayna a toy box for her birthday. We also picked up paint and the peripheral things that go along with that project.

When the guy got done with the quote, we talked with him a few minutes. He said they beat any quote plus 10%. Dan has decided to go with Menards because they will let us buy all we need but pick it up as we need it. With the way things are going, that's going to be the best route for us. So, Menards gets it.

We built the toy box first thing.

While Dan was working on that, and didn't need my help, I started washing cupboards. We've decided to use the ones that are in the house and paint them. They are all sitting on makeshift tables in the living room. We set them up last Saturday.

They are a very basic style....so will look nice with a new finish, I think.

I started sanding them then realized it would make it easier if the doors were off the cupboards. So, I got the drill and took all 20 doors off.

After Dan finished the toy box, he went downstairs to get a few tools. He came up and called me to come outside. He wanted me to see what he found.
At first he told me it was a snake - to scare me.
Here is what it really was.

Then he worked on some more wiring...cutting holes upstairs and fishing it down into the kitchen.

We drove back to Gina's, had dinner, got showered, drove to a couple stores, then met Dan's other sister Ottilie and her family (who just drove into town). They live in Washington and have driven across the states to Michigan. They stopped along the way at different landmarks. It was nice to see them again. We are having a family reunion on Sunday afternoon with them.

We'll see them tomorrow for awhile then again on Sunday.
But we'll first try to get something done at the house - not sure what!

Have to put a coat of paint on the toy box too. We brought it to Gina's and put it in the basement to prime and paint it...thinking it would be a cooler spot.

Priming on it is done. Tomorrow we'll finish with the paint. Hopefully it won't need more than two coats. Then it will be ready for Rayna's party on Saturday!
