End of Phase II

It was supposed to be a thrilling Thursday...and in some ways it was, but in others, it was exhausting.

Mindi got out of the hospital today - that's a very good thing.
Joe (Jazmyn's daddy) dropped Jazmyn off at our house - she stayed with him the last couple days while Mindi was in the hospital. She did pretty good for all the activity going on at the house, and even helped on several projects.

The window installers (from Window World) were to be at the house between 8 and 10, so we made sure to be there at 8:00. Dan and I started with taking all the wood off the windows. There was wood at all the windows that got changed in size. It was a pretty dark place when we got there! But we brightened it up right away.

The living room window that we've never seen without wood!

Without the wood for the first time!

The front window had been broken, and while we were cleaning up all the glass between the windows, we found some rocks. I'm guessing the means of the window breaking!

I found 5 stones, actually. Made me think of David and Goliath!

Then about 10:30 the installers (Bill and Mike)showed up and the action really started.

As soon as they got in the driveway, Hank and Dave showed up.

Hank ended up parking around the corner....the truck was at the house today (to accommodate all the window refuse and other stacks of things that have accumulated) so the driveway was full.

The windows went in really quickly.

Outside

Inside

The windows were done by 2:45....and the installers disappeared.
Notice the empty trailer.

How Jazmyn spent part of the afternoon!

Our insulation will be provided by Whitson Insulation. Brian, the owner, stopped over today and gave us some advice. He already has given us a bid on it.

In the attic checking things out

After windows and insulation reps left, we carried all the garbage out and filled the truck again. That load will go in the morning.

CAN WE GO NOW?!

Just a minute....
I took Jazmyn home tonight and stayed awhile to help Mindi feed and get the little ones ready for bed. Seth had school tonight so she was alone with them after having just gotten home from 3 days in the hospital. So, while I was gone, Dan and Dave did some planning for what comes next. Hopefully they have a plan to get us moved in next week. Dreaming a bit, I'm sure, but I'm ready to sleep in my own bed again!

But, windows are in now - that ends Phase II.
Phase III begins - that means get the mechanicals completed, and, if they consult with me, I vote for getting the master bedroom and bathroom done next! What do you think?

  1. WOW My first look at the attic!! It looks HUGE!! That would make a great craft room Hilma or I guess a great room for the grandkids. But WOW it really looks big and the ceilings looks high!
Windows look great. Wanted to see a pic of the front!!! Tomorrow? Oh, BTW I noticed in the one pic of the big truck at the back door, where is the slider??? It's gone!
