But We Have Clean Sheets!

Well, to fill you in on last night, Dan and Dave got home about 10:30 - 10:45.
They were whipped. They had tried to get as much done on the plumbing as they could, then they had to take the dump truck back, and to add to all of that, there is night time construction on the only road leading out of Ionia (M-66). That slowed them down dramatically.

Dan did take a couple pictures. Here is one of what was under the deck once they removed it.

This was the deck before (like how backwards this is?!)

Here's the deck on the truck ready to go to its new home

That fills you in on last night. Guess what we started out doing today? We were getting stuff in the van to go and I needed a pair of sandals out of the car, so I got them and when I opened the door remembered that there was a funky smell coming from it....thought maybe we had left food or something in there. We checked to see but couldn't find anything. I took what was in the back up to our room and Dan started looking to see what he could find. Well, he found it alright. The floor in the back seat was wet. He followed it to the wheel well where he found 5 GALLONS of water sitting. The only thing we can figure out is that with all the hard rain we got at the beginning of the week it somehow got through the seal in the back hatch/door and filled the wheel well.

Once we got that dried up we went to Ionia. We started with the plumbing they had left off on last night. Then, Mindi stopped over.

We started out working on getting plaster out of lathe on the landing at the top of the stairs.

I was happy to have a sidekick. It always goes faster and is more fun with someone else with you!

Here is what we had to get out of the walls

Here is what you aim for....NO PLASTER!

Then, after a lunch break and a run to Menards, Mindi and I tackled the bushes out front.

My wonderful daughter/assistant/worker-bee/volunteer!

Dan grabbed the camera and caught me. I have to hide it better!

Then he joined in on the action
He looks like he's tackling it, doesn't he?
Makes me look like a poser!

The almost finished product

And from across the street

And, I didn't mention yet, that when we returned from Menards/lunch, much to our surprise and delight, there was Hank.

Several of you have asked who Hank is. I can't really tell you or he'll kill me, but we met him at Resurrection Life in Cascade several years ago. He now attends Grandville Res and is also in the men's group Dan meets with on Tuesday mornings.

He and Dan went right to work on more plumbing.
That toilet is fully operational!
(Doesn't that look like the perfect setting to use a toilet - out in the middle of the room with NO privacy!?)

Then they layed out the boards for the walls between the bathrooms and the master bedroom closet.

Here are all the 2x4's up and nailed in place

One other thing I want to mention about today.
Dan found an old presidential election button in the kitchen with President Wilson on it!

Credit has to go to the photographer - Melinda Conklin Miller.
I couldn't get the setting right...here is what you would have ended up with if I was the only one doing it.

Well, that's it for tonight. Off to the shower and make the bed. I threw the sheets in the washer this morning before leaving. Just what you want to do when you get home and want to drop into bed....make it!
