Serene Sunday

Today really was a day of rest for us. We decided not to move a thing, and certainly not go over to the new house to work.

We went to the 10:00 a.m. service. Our pastor gave a timely message titled "Discerning Deceptions". Our churches website is: http://rlcionia.com.

After church we checked in with our daughter Mindi. She had called first thing this morning to tell us that her best friend had been in a boating accident last night. She had taken her two kids on a boat ride with some friends from church. It was getting late/dark, and the friend driving the boat ran into a cement abutment/wall. He was killed instantly, his wife is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, Amanda (Minid's friend) has a broken neck, severely injured foot/ankle and I'm not sure what other injuries. Her two kids got out of it with almost no injuries whatsoever. After making sure they were ok, and didn't need anything, we spent the afternoon lounging, making plans for the week, and changing some plans on the layout of the house.

We went over to the house and measured some things and here is what I think we've decided to change. The old kitchen was going to become the family room. But we are now looking at layouts to keep it a kitchen. Initially, we thought the plumbing would be an issue. That room is on a crawl space, unlike the rest of the house, and Dan didn't want to have to crawl under that part of the house and work. He thinks he has that figured out so he doesn't have to do that. I'm kind of excited about that. It is a bigger room, giving us more options!

This week Monday and Tuesday we will be finishing the packing up of the old place and moving everything into storage.

Closing the book on this chapter of our lives.
Spending a couple weeks in an interim phase (living with our oldest daughter and her family).
I think serenity will be out of our vocabulary for awhile, don't you?!
