Saturday

Super Saturday! On a holiday weekend, no less.
Mindi (our second child/daughter) was at the house before we got there!
How's that for dedication?!

She had a little trouble figuring out how to don mask and goggles

Actually, she was trying to take them off after spending 1/2 an hour or more with them both on, knocking plaster out of the wall. Then, when she tried to put them back on the mask was over her eyes and nose! We were laughing so hard - I didn't get to the camera in time to catch that shot!

We spent most of the morning on the master bedroom...taking trim down, plaster off the walls, and ceiling tiles off the plaster ceiling.

A few shots of that

While we were removing plaster, we found a name and date written on the lathe.

At first glance, Mindi and I both thought it was 1996. But look really closely (you can also click on any photo and it enlarges it) and you will see it is actually 1896!

So, evidently the house is older than we thought, or James Robinson is a shyster.

Then we moved to the extra bedroom. It needed all trim removed, carpet backing scraped off the wall, and closet removed.

Dan came in to help on some of that

Prior to that, he had been in the 2nd bedroom (that used to have the pink shag carpet!) removing the chimney that had been painted black.

Before

During

After

Off to enjoy what's left of the day and weekend. Tomorrow - no remodeling. We're taking a day off. We will probably go over there and scope it out, talk about bathroom layout, and who knows what else! I'll take a few shots of the mess, maybe.
Then we're going to Mindi and Seth's to have a picnic and enjoy the family awhile.

Then we have to finish packing up this place and get ready to vacate it by Wednesday.
They close on it Thursday, and we're expecting them to want it that day. We certainly won't lack for things to do, will we?!

Have a great weekend yourself!
