Bed, Bath and Beyond

Ok, we’re heading into a holiday weekend, so we won’t belabor this tonight. I’ll make it short and sweet.

We started the day upstairs. We decided to start in the master bedroom and take the closet and wall out between it and the bathroom. The existing bathroom is quite large, so we are going to split it and make two bathrooms out of it.

Here is the wall of cupboards, already 1/2 taken out

That is from the bathroom side. Here is the bedroom side

The hole is getting bigger....

And bigger.....

Here it is practically completed

Found some interesting wallpaper behind the woodwork, so I figure it was the original stuff. It is red flocked paper! It's difficult to tell in the picture, but the woodwork is gone from around that window. What you are seeing is the wallpaper in the shape of the trim.

Then, under the flooring in the bathroom, we found some newpapers. They aren't that old, but thought they were interesting. Here are a few samples

Hank showed up again first thing this morning. After the first dump run we tackled the back bedroom. It had pink shag carpet we wanted to pull up. We about gave ourselves heat strokes in there getting that ugly stuff out. The windows wouldn't open and the only fan we had in there was a small box fan - NOT enough to compensate for the stuffiness of the room and the hard labor getting it out. It was a rubber backed carpet and the rubber was STUCK to the floor!
We won though - the pink is now gone. Here is a before. I was too exhausted afterwards to remember to take an after shot!

Then we got a much welcomed invitation for dinner. Guess where we went!?

Rayna

Mindi and Seth's!

Jazmyn enjoying her corn on the cob. That was the sweetest corn on the cob I've ever tasted, it melted in your mouth!

Right after dinner was bathtime

Grandpa teasing the children

Now it's to bed ourselves. Back at it tomorrow morning bright and early.
