Are We Tired Yet?

Here is what I saw first thing this morning, right out of my office window....

Then the day got going. Dan got back from Grand Rapids around 8:30 or 9:00. I got the "shopping" out of the way and met him at the new place. We started with the drop ceiling in the old kitchen.

Hopefully you can get an idea of what it looked like pre-snippers....

Then what it looked like once we removed all the panels.

We then moved into the barn sided room and proceeded to take it down

It was then that Hank arrived and began helping us remove barn siding, kitchen flooring, more walls....

With the barn siding removed we realized we have wonderful orange walls!

Next the kitchen floor was removed. It came up very quickly and without a problem. We are saving it and using it in the upstairs office.

I then left to go home and make some sandwiches. When I returned, Dan and Hank called me into the living room. They had removed the wall between the barn sided room and living room. They showed me the wall and asked what I saw. Well, to tell you the truth, I saw studs, a chimney, a heating duct, more studs...I kept listing things I saw but they kept asking, "What else?" Well, there's a little stuffed animal sitting on the ledge. "What else?" NOTHING! They had to explain to me that there was a pocket door in the wall. How on earth was I to know that? And what can we do with a pocket door in the middle of a wall??

See if you can pick out the pocket door?!

But there was a stuffed animal

The closet in the corner of the kitchen was next to come out. Here are the before and after shots.

No, those wallpapers don't match!

Gary stopped by to pick up all the barn siding. Someone actually wants that stuff! I'm glad he took it. Otherwise I would have been heaving it up on the dump truck!

Roland arrived and he and Dan lit into the plaster like there was no tomorrow. Here are a few shots of them hard at work. (The air was so thick we all had masks on and it still made your teeth gritty.)

Here's what I have to clean up tomorrow....

So, with that, I'm signing off. Need some rest so I can tackle that mountain of plaster tomorrow.
