I couldn't believe it had been a couple days until I looked at the blog - sure enough, I haven't done it since Friday. (Mothers are always right, aren't they?!)
I haven't been just sitting around though. The reason I haven't blogged is 'cos I've been so busy.
Friday night I picked up Jazmyn right after school and had her until Saturday morning. She was awesome! We had a lot of fun with her.
Saturday morning right after we got up, Mindi texted asking what our plan for the day was. Our plan was to get the laundry room hooked up, then in the evening Dan had a wild game dinner and I was scheduled to babysit the grandkids in Alto.
Mindi brought the two little ones over and visited awhile before taking Jazmyn home. She helped us move some stuff while she was here. Then as she was leaving, we loaded her down with bins of stuff and some odds and ends to use in Jazmyn's room.
After they left we worked a couple hours, then some friends of ours (Frank and Sandy) came by to see the house. Sandy is the one that helped me scrape plaster off walls way back in the demolition phase!
When they left we finished up a few things in that room and got ready to go to our evening activities.
Dan had a great time at the dinner. They served venison, antelope, bear and I'm not sure what else. Those are the ones that stuck in my mind. He got home around 8 or 8:30.
I went to Gina and Dave's to watch the boys so they could go to a friend's wedding reception. They got a little carried away - me thinks - and got home around 2:15 (but who's counting??)
That got me home around 3:00 a.m. The time change didn't even help with that one. I woke up with a whopping headache (so did Dan). But, that couldn't stop us, NO WAY! We got up and got to the 10:00 service....awesome!
This afternoon, we rushed around trying to finish up the laundry room 'cos our marriage small group was coming over!
But first, Daniel came over. He and Laina were supposed to Friday night. That didn't work out. Then they were going to come over Saturday afternoon. That didn't work out either. Today was D-Day. We had to get their invitations done - the wedding is Nov. 20th! Not a huge deal. They are having a very small ceremony, and all those invited already know the date. It is a simple formality, but you can only push even that so far!
Anyway, Laina had homework she had to get done, so Daniel came all by himself to do the invitations. He and I went up to the "office", via the MAZE. We have put boxes on the landing, in the office, at the office door, just about anywhere we can find just to get them out of the way and off the main floor!
I had kept the paper and a few embellishments where I could easily find them, and we did. We haven't had any one on one in many months so we had a lot of fun putting them together. We made samples, took pictures, sent them to Laina's email then called her to tell her to check them out. She loved the first one we sent, so it made it go pretty fast. They knew the wording they wanted so Daniel worked on that and got it printed. I cut and folded paper and got it ready to assemble. Within an hour and 1/2 we had them done. He had a unique way of putting the ribbon on them - then we were done.
Before he left, he helped Dan carry a bunch of stuff downstairs. He also helped him swap out the toilets upstairs and downstairs. I was very grateful for his help on that one! I wish I had thought to take a picture of Dan while he was waiting for one of us to help him with the first toilet! He had it at the bottom of the stairs, the back of it was off and he was sitting on it making some strange noise by banging on the inside of the tank - quite a site!
When Daniel left we kicked it into high gear and finished carrying boxes and bins out of the dining room. We had set the table up with Daniel's help. While Dan finished up the bathroom, I started the chili, baked potatoes and brownies. Small group arrived before I had the food ready, but we talked while it finished cooking.
So, there's the scoop on our weekend.
Now I'll show you some pictures of the last couple days.
Oh, by the way, I'm listening to my washer and dryer as we speak.
I'M DOING WASH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY OWN HOUSE!!! It is SO cool!
Flooring goes into the bathroom
Daniel arrives to do the invitations
Finding his way through the maze!
Dining room table usable again!
Almost complete bath/laundry
Family room - still needing some TLC
Front room/living room from the stairs. Furniture mixed up but at least usable....a place to sit down.
There.
Now to another week. This is gonna be a fun one.
I work Mon. - Wed. Then have our other small group on Friday night. Saturday my mom, sister, and all of us here have a personal shower for Laina. Sunday is the wedding shower for Daniel and Laina in which couples have been invited, not just ladies. That should prove to be fun!
Somewhere in there we have to celebrate Seth's birthday too.
