Today Dan worked on getting more drywall up in the extra bedroom.
Then Dan decided he was going to take my picture while I was working on making curtains. I saw him just as he raised the camera, and raised my arms with the fabric in my hands.
Oops, he got me anyway. Can't hold your arms up forever!

Sory those are kinda mixed up....I'm sure you can figure it out...if not, call me ;-)
Have a great weekend.
This is the journey of Dan and Hilma on the road not only to remaking, remodeling, renovating and restoring an old home in Ionia, Michigan, but remaking, remodeling and restoring our marriage and family. We are almost done with the project on the house, but we plan to continue working on the marriage and family. Join us on this journey and share the bumps, detours and highlights as we go. We know from previous experience it will not be a smooth ride, but it WILL be fun! So, buckle up!

Ocular Migraine
The beginning of the day seemed normal enough.
Got up, dressed, went into the office to read....as I started to read I chose a pair of glasses Marie had given me. As I began, I noticed the first word of every sentence was missing. I knew it was on the page, I had just written it yesterday (I was reviewing my journal). But as I read, it was missing. So I changed glasses thinking maybe they were just a weird concave that made me see differently. Well, then words in a circle were missing. I didn't see a circle, words were missing in the pattern of a circle.
That started freaking me out a little bit. So, I took the glasses off and went downstairs where Dan was beginning breakfast. I sat and talked to him awhile....then noticed I had jagged vision off to my left - like looking out of a beveled window glass.
After eating I sat in a dark room and just wanted to close my eyes. But when I did, I felt dizzy. So I layed down on the couch and fell asleep.
I hate sleeping in the middle of the day, but this was an exception. When I woke up, my vision was back to normal, with a little bit of a headache.
I emailed the kids and told them what had happened and my daughter in law emailed with this little paragraph:
Symptoms of Ocular Migraine
If you are familiar with regular migraine pain, and now hear of ocular migraine, you may very well ask, "How do I know if I have an ocular migraine? I have no headache."
An ocular migraine is sometimes called a migraine without headache. It is a migraine that distorts images when you look at them. The distortion usually begins in the image's center, and then moves to one side. Ocular migraine is likely to affect only one eye at a time. As an ocular migraine progresses, images may turn grey or wavy. You may even lose your sight temporarily.
Doctors differ in their understanding of ocular migraine. Some say that ocular migraine is more likely to occur as you get older. Others say it is typically seen in young adults. It can be quite frightening, as you may think you are losing your sight forever.
Physicians differ, too, in their understanding of ocular migraine symptoms. Some use the term to explain visual disturbances of aura without headache. Other use it to refer to one-sided blind spots in the field of vision, or blindness, that lasts less than an hour and is associated with a headache.
Do you have ocular migraine? With or without a headache, if you have the visual disturbances of an aura in only one eye, yours may be an ocular migraine.
I was very relieved to read all that!
That is exactly what I experienced.
During my "nap" Dan got some stuff done on the guestroom. Here are pics of that.
Drywall will hang on these boards
This evening Jazmyn called and said they were going to be in Ionia, could they stop by.
Of course you know my answer - YES!
They didn't stay that long, but long enough for us to get these pictures.
The guns they are playing with make different noises each time they fire it and is like a laser...constantly flashing lights instead of shooting anything. Quite annoying after a few minutes ;-)
Thanks for reading!

Surprise Party
Not too much got done on the house today.
Dan left about 2:30 to get more 2x4's to rough in the closet walls.
While he was gone, I left for my two afternoon appointments.
When he returned he worked at getting the wood upstairs by himself then worked in that room awhile. Truthfully, I haven't gone down the hall to see since I got home - which was just a few minutes ago.
My last stop today was at Ada Bible Church's Kentwood Campus. The Bible study ladies threw Marie a surprise BD party, and they invited me! Wasn't that thoughtful?!
Well, I took my camera with me....here are a few pictures of that event.
I know this is dark, but you can see part of her reaction off to the left.
She WAS totally surpised!
Hope she doesn't kill me for putting these on here!!
Here she is with the girl responsible for throwing the whole thing.
Sorry Kim. I was sure you would sign the disclaimer! ;-)
Kim hand made 100 cupcakes!
And, the two buds at the end.
Well, I'm off...makin' this a short one.
Thanks for reading/looking!

Fort, Picnic and Peanut Butter Cookies
For Christmas, we gave our two girls and their husbands a coupon.
When giving this coupon, we told them we wanted to invest in their marriages and this is one way we came up with to do that on very practical terms.
The coupon gives them a weekend away once every quarter of 2011.
Mindi and Seth's anniversary was this week, so they cashed in their first one this weekend.
We went over on Friday afternoon and spent the evening and all day today (Saturday).
The car seemed really quiet on the drive home ;-)
Here are some pictures of our time over there.
Last night I suggested to Jaz that we build a fort with blankets over the couch.
She glommed onto that immediately and ran to get all her blankets. Thankfully she had several really big ones. We brought chairs in from the dining room and stretched the blankets between the chairs and the couch. It was fun. I even crawled under there for awhile to see what it was like - and to scare them! That's just too much fun!
Underneath the tent/fort

Jamma's on and watchin' a movie before bed

Jazmyn had the idea today to have a picnic. So she got her blanket, spread it out, then went upstairs to the playroom and got the bin with plastic food in it....spread it out and the little ones had a ball pretending. She even changed her clothes to fit the occassion.

Later, Nate found a pillowcase and climbed into it. He also tried running in it....that didn't go to well, as you can imagine!

She knew the camera was aimed at her!

This afternoon Jazmyn and I mixed up some peanut butter cookies.
Nate got up from his nap and wanted to help - that didn't last long. I called in a rather high decibal voice for the assistance of my life partner to come and remove said little boy from the area in which bite size morsels were being created. He did so, and the sweet treats were made without mishap...well almost, but we'll spare you that story. We did have to confess to the parental units once they arrived home!
We survived!

So, that was our weekend so far.
We may be allowed to watch them again! LOL

More Work on the Upper Bedroom
Hey, we had progress on the house today!
Dan worked all day on the upstairs bedroom, finishing putting up the insulation, making sure all the outlets are ready, then putting up strips of wood for attaching drywall (so he doesn't have to have a 4 inch screw to hold it in place!)
This morning taking the garbage to the curb, he said he'd need me to get some 2x4's through the bedroom window. So, he got them out of the shed and handed them up to me through the window. That's the pile you see on the floor.

Closets getting roughed in

Here's a good picture....we've spent too much time in the sun, don't you think?
All that glare....what's that about?!

We were annoyed by that setting. We purposely changed it so it wouldn't white us out like that. So, we tried again tonight to see if we could get it right.
Heeeere you go -

So, that was our day.
