Ok, I'm home from work, eaten dinner, relaxin' a few minutes and checking emails.
After work, I dropped off some pie pans for Daniel. He wants to make some quiche and didn't have any pie pans. I have more than I need, so I took him a few of my extras.
While there, I got to see Solen, of course (the real reason I went over ;-).
Laina was out for awhile, so I offered to watch him so Daniel could go work on his homework. He has several papers due tonight.
Solen is so good. He was as content as could be. He smiled a little, "talked" a little, hung out with me until Laina got home. It was awesome!
Now to fill you in on the weekend.
We got notification from the insurance company they are going to cancel our homeowners policy if we don't get the siding all back up. (can they do that??)
We worked all day Saturday on that. Here are a few pictures of our progress.
The puzzle pieces:
They've been sitting in the side yard over by the neighbors garage since we took them off to put in the French door and new windows. We had to hose them off and scrub them to get the "icky stuff" off.
Here is the back of the house around the back door and French door that needs to have siding put back up.
The upper window where we decided to start - and actually finished by days end.
Now to the fun stuff - Father's Day here at our house.
Daniel and Laina checking out the photo album I put together (of Solen). I started it for Mother's Day and finished it for Father's Day.
(Better late than never, right?)
Solen arrived - asleep!
Levi, Nate and Gideon playing.
Jazmyn with Dave and Dan
Gina (and our 8th grandchild ;-) slicing bread!
Mindi and Seth, holding Solen.
Rayna giving Solen hugs!
Mindi cutting the delicious fruit pizza she made.
Grandpa and Solen....
Grandma and Solen....
Laina and Rayna having a discussion.
Not sure what these two are up to!
You've heard the expression, "Bite their head off"?
Daniel trying to be funny!
The proud daddy....his first Father's Day!
Gina and Mindi in deep conversation - great Grandpa Conklin in the background.
We have ray guns. They are very annoying after 3 seconds of kids playing with them. But, I gave in and let them play with them....all of them.
Rayna, in the background, looks distressed over the whole situation, doesn't she?!
Nate enjoying one all to himself.
It's just about naptime, I think!
Dave holding Solen, while Jaz talked to him and got him to smile, repeatedly!
Little Gideon...
Moms getting a minute to relax without kids...
There you have it....you are up to date.
Have a great week, and we'll post again sometime soon!
This is the journey of Dan and Hilma on the road not only to remaking, remodeling, renovating and restoring an old home in Ionia, Michigan, but remaking, remodeling and restoring our marriage and family. We are almost done with the project on the house, but we plan to continue working on the marriage and family. Join us on this journey and share the bumps, detours and highlights as we go. We know from previous experience it will not be a smooth ride, but it WILL be fun! So, buckle up!

Father's Day 2011
No pictures and this won't be lengthy, but wanted to post something tonight.
We had an awesome day with the kids, grandkids and Dan's dad celebrating Father's Day.
We did take some pictures, I just don't have time to download them tonight.
I have to get up at 6:00 a.m. and it is already 10:45!
I should be able to download them tomorrow....so until then....

The Landing
Gonna hurry and post something for you to look at.
We have group tonight, so need to get ready for that, but was just looking through pictures we took yesterday and I must show you some of Solen. He is growing and looking so cute.
Getting a little sleepy!
We started the day with a meeting at church for volunteers. At the end of this month there is an event here in town at the fairgrounds for over 100 Christian bands. They usually have the event in Gaylord, but this year have moved it to Ionia. They asked local churches to get as many volunteers as possible - and we volunteered.
After the meeting, we took some stuff over to Daniel and Laina - that's when we got to see Mr. Solen!
After eating some of Daniel's rosemary potatoes and waffles, we went to a graduation open house and visited awhile. We then decided to come home and mow the lawn (it was looking pretty shabby). Once we got that done, we turned to the inside of the house. We were going to make the library a play room for the grandkids, but we couldn't figure out where to put the couch and overstuffed chairs! So, it is still a sitting room....we moved the bookshelves up to the balcony. (You should have seen the system we used to get them upstairs! We got them to the entryway then lifted them onto the piano, then ran upstairs and grabbed them and lifted them up the two story staircase - does that make any sense whatsoever??!!) It was comical, suffice it to say.
Before we did that we took the carpet remnant from the living room and layed it on the landing.
Here are the bookcases with the books on them. (man am I tired of moving books!)
I thought we would have room for a chair and lamp, etc. on the landing.
Hmmm, not so much! We measured to see if one of the flowered over-stuffed chairs would fit - only if we stuffed it into the corner - and that is all that would fit!
You like those trees? I needed a place to store them...that's where they landed for now.
It will change, you know how we are!
Today we had church, a meeting for all small group leaders, then this evening we have small group in Grand Rapids. We are finishing our study (of Ephesians) and will be done for the summer months.
So, have a blessed week. Talk to you soon - just never sure when anymore!
